Description:

FILMS 3240 breaks down the process of recording and editing sound to enable students to create a basic stereo mix for film, installation or multi-platform projects. Through this process the psychological impact of sound on the perception of image will be explored. Students will acquire skills that will enable them to produce high-quality production recordings, foley, voice-over, ambient/background sound as well as sound effects. An emphasis on creating powerful sonic accompaniment for image on a limited budget will be central to the class. Film 3240 will be taught in Fall 2021 as a ‘hybrid’ class. Students will meet every other week on campus, for equipment demonstrations , sound-recording practice and studio training.Hybrid course sections will be delivered both online and in-person. Required online synchronous meeting times are listed as the meeting pattern for this course section. Additional course components will be delivered asynchronously or in-person as outlined in the syllabus.
