This course will examine contemporary art practices that are rooted in painting and drawing, however materially or conceptually expansive.  Weekly lectures will explore individual artists from the local to the global. The firsts weeks will be small, project-based studio assignments corresponding to lecture content. The second half of the semester will focus on individually-determined projects that overlap with one's studio practice.
