Description:

In Artist in Real Life (IRL) class, we will embark on a comprehensive exploration of the various facets of living the life of an artist in the real world. Yes, it's not just a dream – it's possible!Over the course of the semester, we will delve into a multitude of aspects that encompass the realm of being an "ARTIST IRL." This will include, but is not limited to, understanding cultural ecosystems, DIY spaces, galleries and museums, curating, creating archives and inventories, participating in exhibitions, and the intricacies of art production.We will organize an exhibition collectively, where we will focus on conceiving and materializing an idea, while focusing on intentional processes, networks, marketing, installation skills, and fostering a sense of community within the art world.Throughout the semester, we will engage with a variety of readings, site visits, and exercises that will empower you to shape your artistic practice and career. This includes discussions on financial aspects such as creating project budgets, pursuing grants, residencies and setting financial and future career goals.
