Description:
This course is about how to survive in and beyond the ecosystem of contemporary art. Students develop their own art world through experimental studio inquiries that produce knowledge of the self in the face of everyday epistemic injustice and narratives of collapse.Shifting focus from the problematic, we will use practice-based research assignments to expand capacity for critical reflection. Data visualizations, material biographies, first person art history, and aesthetic inheritance will provide foundational exercises. We will activate methodologies of collaboration, skillshare, and reciprocity. Curriculum includes textile theory, biomythography, cartography, cosmology, and somatics.
