Description:
Exhibitions is the second of a required two course sequence (in tandem with Thesis Seminar), in which second year students complete their individual written thesis and MFA exhibition projects. The early part of the semester will focus on theorizing, planning, and executing each student’s individual MFA exhibitions. In addition to planning these shows, this part of the course will include conversations around professional development, including discussions of issues surrounding the public presentation of one’s work, as well as strategies for a sustainable artistic practice after graduate school. After the conclusion of the thesis exhibitions, the second part of the course curriculum will focus on the completion and submission of the final written thesis. Taken together, the exhibition and written thesis form the capstone academic experience of the MFA Program in Fine Art.
