After completing this course, you’ll be able to walk into any wood shop in the world and understand its fundamental manufacturing processes. Topics covered in detail will include the care and use of hand tools, hand power tools and larger woodworking machinery, as well as the fundamental techniques of carving, shaping, finishing, joinery, basic furniture design practices, and the use of sustainably harvested wood. Processes will be demonstrated and experienced through a series of hands-on projects of your own design. The class will emphasize precision and the development of craft skills which will enhance your making no matter what your major.
