Description:
In the Game Arts Workshop: Set Design and Fabrication we will create the components for a playable stop-motion animated game or the components for a tabletop game. Discussions, lectures and demonstrations will illustrate the importance of careful planning, based on an established game logic in order to create a set that accommodates various shot angles, lighting scenarios, animators, and camera access to the cinematography process. The final project for the class will be a complete set of well lit photographs, produced by the student. These photographs will represent the set's function in the proposed production by accommodating, showing, every shot angle called for in the script. By taking this class the student will collaborate with animators and develop an appreciation for how the Production Designer, Art Director and Set Decorator functions on a typical set, coordinating with directors to achieve the originally desired outcome. Some woodshop skills will be utilized in cutting wood, drilling holes, gluing, painting and finishing work.
