Description:
This course introduces students to the field and discipline of Communication Design through direct engagement with contemporary designers, practices, and conversations. Students practice formulating questions, iterating, experimenting, collaborating, and reflecting through visiting designer lectures, studio visits, field trips, and hands-on workshops. They explore what is meaningful in design today, different ways of being a designer, and the relationship between design and place, with a focus on the Bay Area. Recommended in the first year for Communication Design majors, but may be taken at any point. Open to all students regardless of major or level.
