Description:
“SPACE”? Yes, but SPACE firmly on Earth. As communication designers, we are accustomed to our work existing primarily in intimate settings—on our phones, laptops, iPads, and televisions; in our hands; or on the walls of our homes and workplaces. If we’re lucky, maybe we get to design a public billboard or mural. This course is about the intersection of communication and the physical environment. Think of it as “UX in the REAL WORLD.” Exhibitions, installations, experiences, wayfinding—heck, you will even design a memorial. On your own and collaboratively, you will create work that is not just visual, but that speaks to ALL the senses. You will be encouraged to use new tools and processes to help you realize your ideas and better understand the scale and context for your design. The results will be analog, digital, and everything in between.
