Description:
This class is an overview of ink techniques as they apply to Illustration and Comics (as well as other artforms). We will be employing pens, nibs, and brushes to create linework, ink washes, and shading. In addition, you will learn how to use digital media to elevate your ink work. Students learn how to use ink with pen, quill, and brush. Various ink media are also introduced, including India Ink, dye and pigment based ink, and liquid acrylics. Some techniques featured are: cross hatching, silhouettes, flat shading, feathering, and inkwash. Additionally, the class explores different paper types from cold press watercolor paper to hot press Bristol, and brush types from natural hair to synthetic. Technique is the main focus of all lessons and exercises. Each class concentrates on a specific ink technique.
