Description:
This class is open to Illustration majors and non-majors; there is no pre-requisite.This class will fulfill either “Studio 1: Materials” or “Studio 1: Narrative”, based upon the students’ individual course requirements. The structure of this course will focus on the form and function of visual storytelling, where the class will complete works that are conceptually and practically sound. Students will be exposed to a wide array of materials, with live demonstrations and individual tutorials, all leading to conceptually challenging projects. The class will also host a number of guest artists during the semester. During this term, each project will celebrate a specific point of view, client, and structure. Students will be asked to challenge their narrative process, from ideation to completion. This class is meant to push the materiality alongside story-based design.
