Description:
COURSE DESCRIPTION:DC4, Design Communication 4 is typically taken the second year in the ID program (junior year). Students will move their 3D modeling skills forward learning SolidWorks advanced techniques whilst developing 3D models intended to be functional products. These products must be designed and built based on organic, complex curvature forms, expressing the continuous flow of Surface Curvature. Students will become fluent in this immersive program learning advanced techniques integrating Surfaces in the modeling workflow, creating multi-body parts as well as assemblies.In addition, students will learn advanced rendering techniques (Keyshot), basic animation and motion graphics (AfterEffects), as well as storytelling and video editing (Adobe Premier). Students will integrate AI for concept and form development as well as AI Generative Design through final renderings.Students will use 3D printing methods for purposes of form development, iteration, and verification.Feedback on each student's design process and abilities will be provided through individual desk crits with the instructor as well as group presentations and critiques. Skills reinforced: 2D sketching, 3D modeling, 3D printing, Model Making, digital rendering, and visual storytelling. Software: Solidworks, Fusion360, Keyshot, Adobe Substance, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier.
