Description:
In this competitive labor market, companies are being choosy about qualified design talent and knowledge workers like us. And that, in turn, has created a climate for designers to be more targeted and selective with their job search — more than perhaps any other time in recent history. With hybrid work models here to stay, the notion of where, how, what a successful career looks like has evolved. Whether you’re looking for full-time, part-time, freelance, fractional, or contracting opportunities, the Purpose to Practice (P2P) class will help you get clear on your own career journey. We’ll start with assessing your own skills, identifying and socializing the components of your search, and understanding how to conduct your search and who the personas are. We’ll move into being able to communicate your value and impact in project work, and you will develop a set of consistently branded materials to apply to your search, from a portfolio site and deck to resume and interpersonal interactions. You will be empowered and prepared to land your next role, and have the wherewithal to succeed in your first 90 days on the job.
