Description:
This course challenges students to understand and explore how design influences human behavior. We’ll examine how behaviors are shaped by environment, culture, perception, ability, and emotion. We’ll discuss bias in data, dark UX patterns. We’ll consider the ethics of design and our responsibility as designers. We’ll actively explore using AI technologies in our work, and consider how to use these tools appropriately. Our goal will be to craft systems and interactions that influence behavior in useful, accessible, and responsible ways.Thoughtful interaction design requires independent research, deep thinking, lots of sketching, and discussion in class. Most importantly, it requires making, testing and iterating upon prototypes. While each project is an individual assignment, students are expected to collaborate, share knowledge, and help each other to succeed.
