Description:
In this studio, students will learn to apply their growing repertoire of skills to tangible and virtual objects and environments that enhance the user experience. Students will work to develop a personal perspective on gestural interfaces, augmented reality and physical computing - understanding the challenges and opportunities when designing at the intersection of the physical and digital, while maintaining a human centered perspective. No longer constrained to the screens on our computers and mobile devices, digital experiences are increasingly becoming completely integrated with our “Real Life” experiences, as our physical environment and the objects that surround us gain sensing and responsive capabilities, along with increased connectivity. Nearly any object or environment we inhabit can become a responsive digitally enhanced experience. Students in this class will explore the tools required to prototype and imagine those futures, imagining interfaces that better serve human needs. This class also satisfies the technology intensive major course requirement for the Computational Practices Minor.
