Description:
The "Building Interactive Worlds" class will focus on designing immersive experiences for games, XR and the metaverse. This is a hands-on lab that will leverage the Unreal game engine and assumes no prior knowledge of 3D software or game development. The class will begin with a formal definition of interactive experiential worlds (metaverse) and lay out a clear design process and framework to aid in the creation of intentional and cohesive immersive experiences. We will then cover the core design building blocks: immersive spaces, authentic avatars, engaging scenarios, VR & AR, and spatial audio. The class will invite leading guest speakers on emerging and relevant topics such as the intersection of AI and immersive worlds; business opportunities in the metaverse; societal and governance issues as they relate to immersive communities.
