Description:
Why Do We Care About Technology?Humans are naturally drawn to novelty, especially in technology. The allure of shiny new gadgets lies in their promise to break the monotony of daily life and offer escape or excitement. Emerging technologies often stand out as signals amidst the noise, capturing our imagination with their potential to reshape the future. However, alongside the excitement, we must critically evaluate the ethical, cultural, and environmental impacts of technology. The unintended consequences, misuse, and global behavioral effects require careful consideration. This course explores these ideas through projects, discussions, and readings, covering topics like:-Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Speculative Design and Possible Futures-Spatial Prototyping-Emerging Technology Applications and Hacking-Bad Apples, Dark Patterns, and Exploitation Risks-The Balance of Proper Use and MisuseTogether, we’ll uncover meaningful patterns in the hype and weigh the opportunities and risks of rising technologies.
