Description:
Most of our interactions with technology have been optimized to be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. A quick swipe here, an instant button press there - our devices provide an endless stream of conveniently “frictionless” interactions. Yet despite the convenience, the enjoyment and instant gratification of these moments quickly wears off, leaving our experience with technology feeling repetitive and, at times, mundane.Immersive Experience Design offers a different approach to using technology. Instead of prioritizing speed and efficiency, it shifts the dynamic towards slowing us down, creating the space for reflection, deeper thinking, and opportunities for genuine connection. By removing the distractions and immersing the senses, this form of experience design can help foster a more mindful state, so people feel more open to listening, learning, and engaging in the conversation. This course will teach the the theory and practice of 4 dimensions of Immersive Experience Design:
- Spatial Immersion : Designing objects and spaces that immerse the body.
- Visual Immersion: Using projection mapping techniques to illuminate 3D objects and spaces.
- Acoustic Immersion: Using multiple speakers to create 3D soundscapes.
- Interactive Immersion: Designing interactive experiences that engage the user’s emotions and intellect.
