Description:
Some of the most exciting and innovative literature has for a long while been coming out of Britain. In this course we will read and discuss novels by the writers David Mitchell, Zadie Smith, Ali Smith, A.L. Kennedy, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Ian McEwen. Students will write papers exploring the structures, themes, language and imagery in these books, and talk too about how each writer works his or her magic on the page. Writers will also complete writing exercises and respond to generative prompts inspired by the writers we've been reading.
