LITPA 200 courses introduce students to the study of literature or the performing arts, emphasizing analysis of both particular works and of the range of genres, periods and traditions. Frequent reading and writing assignments will be made.Section Description: This inter/trans-disciplinary workshop is for writers, artists and makers telling true stories. Readings and critique sessions will focus on the elements of compelling narrative storytelling, the challenges of researching and crafting nonfiction, and the politics of telling personal, family and community secrets. Class time will also be used to share knowledge of tools and determine the best format and structure for each story script. Students are invited to produce Podcasts/Radio Essays, Memoirs or Essays, Graphic Novels or Webcomix, Games, Performance/Live Storytelling, Digital Storytelling, Community Art Interventions, Short Films/Video Essays, Book Arts, Photo Essays, Family and Ancestral Investigations, Travel Journals or Maps, etc. Students may generate new work or bring passion-projects-in-progress for feedback.
