Description:
This course will explore the origins and history of literature written for children. We will examine issues relevant to the writing, reading and marketing of children's literature, including fairy tales, picture books, classic and contemporary books. Through reading, discussion, a collaboration with a children's bookmaking class in Illustration, and a community partnership, we will explore how the literature has evolved from fantasy/escape to more diverse, realistic representations of the world.
