Description:
LGBTQ+ people have been using the DIY form of comics to express themselves, develop community, fight oppression, get sexy, and have a good laugh for decades. How did the pioneers of queer comics do it? What changes took place to allow queer comics and manga to gain their recent mainstream recognition and popularity? This class studies the history, artistry, and unique challenges and opportunities of LGBTQ+ comics and manga. And we’ll be making our own comics to add to the legacy, to be published in a collaborative class anthology. Everyone is welcome!
