Description:
MAAD Digital Craft Lab Independent Study for Jiris Alali:[SAND]traction | Design Explorations into Feasible Free-Form MakingStarting the independent study in the fall semester, under the advisory of Prof. Negar Kalantar, introduced me to several advance prototyping technologies and its assets. Also, it gave me the chance to be present in Autodesk Technology Center, where I was introduced to a creative community from different engineering backgrounds which I can benefit from their experience to make my proposal happen. Formwork takes a big share from the budget of the construction of the concrete structure. The independent study in spring 2019-2020 will take place to develop the sand subtraction method which I am proposing to find a practical, efficient and more environmentally friendly solution for concrete formwork and construction process. The independent study will take part in the following semester as the following:- 1. Prototyping & fabrication- 2. Assembly and testing- 3. DocumentationMeetings with Advisor: A two-hour weekly meeting is designated to take place based on the advisor's schedule. Additional meetings will be scheduled when required based on the project needs and progress.
