Description:
This seminar course, together with Architecture Research Lab, prepares students to embark on a design thesis in architecture. In Architecure Research Seminar, students will work to formulate a problem with reference to architectural history and theory, as well as precedents from historical and contemporary art and design. Problems may engage the core of the discipline (the traditions of form, space, order, and construction), as well as the expanded field of ecology, politics, landscape urbanism, digital technologies, and new media practices. The goal is for students to hone an original, critical argument that sets the stage for a design research project. The course culminates in the production of a written Thesis Proposal.
