Description:
Thesis Seminar guides students in the development of an individualized research topic in preparation for completing an original design thesis project in the spring semester. The seminar approaches thesis research as a rigorous and open-ended exploration of architecture’s definitions and limits, and of design’s capacity to engage important contemporary conditions and problems. Over the course of the fall Thesis Seminar, students produce historical and contemporary research, theoretical argumentation, and analysis, culminating in a thesis proposal that takes the form of a written essay and verbal presentation. Throughout the semester, students represent their research through original diagrams, photographic documentation, written analysis, oral presentations, and other media.
