Description:

This class introduces students to a variety of different aspects involved in making meaning through photographic Sequence. We will discuss titles of historical significance as well as contemporary books that are contributing to the discourse surrounding this intimate and confounding method of outward expression. Narrative, Concept and how this is structured through the printed page will be a primary focus of this course, as well as, how the Context and meaning of an image can change and shift once put into sequential dialog with another image or set of images. Along the way, we will critically examine the spectrum of photographic practices from amateur snapshots, to photojournalism, advertising, surveillance, erotica, social media, as well as contemporary art photography.
