Description:
Juniors will focus on critique, discussion and studio-based practice that include investigations around individual interests as a means to prepare the student for the Junior Review and senior year. Through field trips, guest artists/curators, one-on-one meetings, and visits to print shops, galleries and presses we will consider the artist's studio practice, the working process, and the presentation of work among their peers and in the broader Bay Area community. Seniors will concentrate on developing a body of work for their senior show, as well as the pertinent issues relating to professional practices. Portfolio and image preparation will be covered, in addition to familiarizing the student with the local professional print studios and residency opportunities. Guests may include artists/curators, and visits will be arranged to print shops, galleries and presses. A continuing class dialog, rigorous evaluation of each student's work, and refining studio practice will be important components of the class.
