Christina La Sala
Associate Professor, Individualized Studies Program
Description:
The primary focus of this class is the study of the structure and movement of the figure in space and time. The class will spend our time working in class on intensive study of anatomy and morphology of human and animal skeletons through drawing, modeling in clay and building with mixed media materials. There will be in class workshops to help students hone their observation, drawing and modeling skills and two studio projects. One is a body extension and the other is an individual project that you will work on in class for the semester. The individual project is an opportunity to have dedicated time and support creating a kinetic sculpture or stop motion character. The class will look at examples from art, film/video, theater, animation and science to inspire your unique hybrid projects.
