Description:

Television is the most popular medium on the planet and arguably the most powerful. But after more than 50 years, many people still can't say when the season begins or ends. They are mystified about how television is made, ignorant of basic tenets like demographics or ratings, programming trends, ownership or the demands of advertising. In this class, we'll learn how television is made (sausage or magic?) from pitch to production. Understanding the basics will allow you, through critical analysis, to better understand and evaluate what you're watching, and hopefully allow that critical development to come into play as you view your own work and the work of others.
