Description:
This course will examine the intersections of language and power, both the power that can be created through writing, and the power that writing can obscure. Language has incredible influence in shaping how we understand and think about issues, and we will approach our own writing with an eye to thinking about how we choose to represent authority, our own, and others’. Starting with the personal, and moving toward the critical, we’ll look at how close reading and writing can help us understand and shape our own worlds.
