Description:
Writing 2 continues the work begun in Writing 1 on strengthening students' ability to write, read and discuss at the college level, with emphasis on literary and visual analysis, and research and argumentation skills. The course will revolve around a specific theme selected by the instructor.COURSE DESCRIPTIONFor almost two hundred years artists and writers from the east have been looking west for trends and models for making art and narratives. Globalization, immigration, and the internet changed that, and as a result, we have become incredibly familiar with many artistic and cultural forms of expression from many Asian nations. Asian cinema, cuisine, architecture, literature, fashion, design, anime and manga to name a few cultural manifestations, are now part of our daily lives, and we have become more sophisticated thanks to them. This course will examine a few of these cultural objects while focusing on writing and cinema from a selection of countries from that part of the world.
