ARTIST STATEMENT
Examining familial archetypes and the resilience and expectations of mothers, my work explores the ways in which we operate within our families - birth or chosen. In this performance, I use my body, sculpture, and textiles to illustrate the labor, beauty, and discomfort that come with the long term maintenance of relationships. Through the use of extra large knitting needles, I move slowly through the creation of cloth from the discards of commercial bedding - forcing visibility and value for the nuanced and intimate ways of growth inspired by mothers.
