Part of event series: Architecture Lecture Series Fall 2019
Organized by
Architecture Division
Event description
The lecture will focus upon discussing the historical, disciplinary and contemporary relations from which the work of the studio occurs, reflecting upon the role of a studio and the labor of an architect as an agent of resistance, who has to constantly seek for new narratives.
Diego Ricalde graduated with honors in 2003, winning the Zabludowsky Prize for the best Diploma Project of the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM. Master in Architecture and Urbanism since 2009, titled with distinction by the Design Research Lab at the Architectural Association and since 2010, he has directed a diploma design studio at IBERO University. Alongside three other partners, he currently leads Estudio MMX, working on conceptual ideas and projects that range from temporal interventions to public spaces and Urban and Regional Design. All four partners have taught and lectured in diverse national and international universities and have won multiple awards such as The Architectural League Prize for Young Architects and Designers, or the Design Vanguard Award. This year Estudio MMX published their first book showing a selection of 22 projects, marking the studio’s first decade of work.
