Elizabeth Mangini
Associate Professor and Chair, Visual Studies Program, CCA
TOPIC: “Passive Process: Arte Povera and the Politics of Autonomia”
Elizabeth Mangini is an art historian who specializes in social histories of postwar and contemporary art. Her current research projects include a book on the Italian artist Giuseppe Penone. She is a regular contributor to Artforum magazine and serves on the editorial board of Palinsesti, a journal of Italian Contemporary Art. Professor Mangini has held curatorial positions and postgraduate fellowships at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and MASS MOCA. She holds a BA from Stanford University, an MA from Williams College, and a PhD from the Graduate Center, City University of New York.
