Safety Protocols for the Double Ground Construction Site

California College of the Arts Jobsite Visitor Protocol

All visitors to the jobsite must first check-in at the trailer located at the corner of 7th & Hooper Streets and be escorted by a Hathaway Dinwiddie employee. Please contact the following people if you are unable to find the trailer or site entrance:

  • Gene Michael, Superintendent – 415-297-6114

All visitors must complete a COVID-19 pre-screen questionnaire prior to entering the trailer and/or jobsite. There are QR codes for this pre-screen questionnaire located at the entrance to the jobsite trailer.

  • All visitors must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
    • Protective, close-toed shoes
    • Sleeve shirts (long or short)
    • Hi-visibility Vest
    • OSHA Approved Hardhat
    • Safety glasses if needed
    • Gloves if needed
    • Hathaway Dinwiddie will provide a vest hardhat, safety glasses, and gloves, if needed.

Construction Updates

Week of September 19-September 23, 2022

  • 9/19/22: Last day of testing on to piles. May contain loud noise for a short period of time.
  • 9/20/22 – 9/23/22: Bringing in dirt for regrading activities.
  • Air quality monitoring & dust mitigation ongoing.

Week of September 12-September 16, 2022

  • 9/13-9/16: Conducting testing of piles throughout site.
    • 9/16 or 9/19: there will be testing sequence occurring on one of the noted dates that contains loud noises. Its loudness is similar to what we did last week but not as frequent. We will have a better sense of the confirmed date of this activity early next week.
  • Air quality monitoring & dust mitigation ongoing.

Week of September 05-September 09, 2022

  • 9/5: Labor Day Holiday – No work planned
  • 9/6: Cone penetration testing (CPT) of soil compaction zones
  • 9/7-9/9: Possible start of second round of rapid impact compaction (RIC) – Loud noise expected
    • First round was anticipated for completion Tuesday (9/6) but was completed early on Wednesday (8/31)
    • Second round is contingent on CPT results from previous day – If CPT passes, second round of RIC not needed

Week of August 29-September 02, 2022

  • 8/29: Begin of rapid impact compaction (RIC)
  • 8/31: Continuing cone penetration testing (CPT) of existing soil
  • Air quality monitoring & dust mitigation ongoing

Week of August 22-26, 2022

  • 8/22 to 8/26: Cone penetration testing (CPT) of existing soil.
  • 8/25 to 8/26: Surveying of property line
  • Off hauling of debris through the 7th St entrance.

Week of August 15-19, 2022

  • Ongoing installation of test piles with drill rig and crane. Ongoing concrete deliveries through the 7th St entrance.

Week of August 8-12, 2022

  • Monday 8/8/22: Condon Johnson mobilizing on-site with crane delivery, delivery is on 7th St. Ongoing demolition on job site with off haul trucks on 7th St. 
  • Tuesday 8/9/22: final truck off haul of demoed material to be completed. Demolition equipment begin to be removed off site.
  • Wednesday 8/10/22: rigging and crane equipment delivery on 7th St. And start configuring crane. 
  • Thursday 8/11/22: ongoing erection of crane and drill rig configuration. Delivery of pile rebar cages on 7th St. 
  • Friday 8/12/22: drilling of test piles begins. 

Week of July 31-August 6, 2022

  • Site demolition will continue on Monday (8/1) and is projected to finish by Friday (8/5). Equipment is to be loaded onto the jobsite via the 7th Street Gate.
