Michael Mattesi
Description:
This dynamic life drawing course focuses on understanding and utilizing FORCE, Michael Mattesi's proprietary drawing theory, embraced by animation studios such as Pixar, DreamWorks, and Electronic Arts. The FORCE drawing process is less about the drawing than the thinking and experience that shape the drawing. Through numerous demonstrations, students learn how to identify the lines of force in a pose to quickly capture and communicate its emotional impact and physical momentum. They learn to empathize with the model, understanding what the model is doing and why. Demonstrations are followed by one-on-one instruction while students are drawing, facilitating student comprehension. The class engages in open class critiques and its culture is one of curiosity, inspiration, and optimism.
