Description:
This intermediate level workshop focuses on developing higher proficiency in technical areas of ceramics and continuing critical analysis. The studio work is paired with appropriate lectures, demonstrations and field trips.Section Description:
Wheel throwing will be an intensive introduction to working with clay. Techniques will include how to throw on the wheel, incorporate hand built additions, how to use glazes, and the mechanics of firing kilns in both oxidation and reduction atmospheres. The class will be using high-fire clays and glazes. Students will first focus on developing technical skills and an understanding the relationship between form and function. Following that, we begin projects in which students will explore their personal vision.
