Description:

This course takes its prompt from the structure of theatrical productions - bringing together short narratives with prop/costume/set-like sculptural forms to develop new work. Using advanced ceramic handbuilding techniques we will build props and sets to pair with storytelling, performances and oral presentations. Each week we will read or write short stories while learning to handbuild quick models and large scale forms. Assignments will require significant self-direction and independent work outside of class time.
Hybrid course sections will be delivered both online and in-person. Required online synchronous meeting times are listed as the meeting pattern for this course section. Additional course components will be delivered asynchronously or in-person as outlined in the syllabus.
