This Ceramics Workshop will explore these three specific forms of 'Objects of Desire'. The water BONG and ceramic pipes have been handmade for thousands of years in every global civilization. Museum artifacts have proven the ingenuity and aesthetics of our herb smoking ancestors. The Hippie Era popularized the bong as a form of psychedelic art. Today, 'Cannibusiness' is a multi-billion dollar industry with annual conventions and trade shows. BEADS, like seeds, are tiny elements that can grow into amazing forms. Beaded necklaces are the earliest form of body adornment that survives to reflect the tastes and values of a culture. Prayer Beads and rosaries function as Metaphysical aids to a spiritual connection. Abacus, a calculating tool made of beads sliding on wires in a gridded frame was an ancient mathematical device. BEER STEINS, a vessel to hold a large quantity of ale, can be traced back to the 1300s in Europe during the Black Plague. The addition of a hinged Pewter lid was designed to discourage diseased fleas. Today,  microbreweries need new prototypes.
