The United Nations has reported that globally the number of people displaced due to climatic change, war conflict, persecution, and poverty has surpassed 60 million, larger than the populations of many countries of the world. This anthropological course will examine the roots of these forms of forced migration, the formation of new identities, and the emergent concepts of home and belonging.  Of importance will be assessing the environmental factors in creating these forms of forced migration.  This course satisfies the requirements for Social Science, Diversity Studies, and Ecological Practice courses.
