Description:

Students will learn to appreciate the vast culture of North Indian classical music. Public speaking and research skills will be developed through oral reports. The students will attend live North Indian concerts to listen, reflect, and analyze the inner workings of a musical culture and express their observations by writing concert review papers. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to identify musical instruments, personalities, philosophies, mannerisms, and musical forms found within the North Indian classical music tradition.
