Description:

Students will learn to appreciate the vast culture of North Indian classical music. Public speaking and research skills will be developed through oral reports. The students will listen to North Indian music recordings to reflect and analyze the inner workings of a musical culture. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to identify musical instruments, prominent musicians and scholars, philosophies, mannerisms, and musical forms found within the North Indian classical music tradition.
