Description:

Digital Media: Art, Media & Science emphasizes exploration and creation of interdisciplinary works using media with an emphasis on art, science and design in an ecological and global context. Students will select and research an area of personal interest and create art works based on their research. Interpretations may be abstract, conceptual or representational. Topics may range in scope from Bio-ethics and Genetics to Astronomy and Galactic Travel, to Ecology, Social Justice or Health. Media may include light, projections, installation, web, video, digital media, virtual media, interactives or other. Field Trips and Guest artists/scientists (in person and/or virtual) will provide inspiration and potential source material. Final Works will be presented at the end of the semester in varied hybrid forms: exhibition, virtual, in-person (as safe). This is a hybrid course, however if you are not on campus at all, it is possible to take the course virtually. In person classes will focus primarily on outdoor field trip locations, research, and synchronous critiques - about every third week – or as needed.Hybrid course sections will be delivered both online and in-person. Required online synchronous meeting times are listed as the meeting pattern for this course section. Additional course components will be delivered asynchronously or in-person as outlined in the syllabus.
