Description:
In this graduate level course, students will dive into a semester long digital environment, investigating new ways to create physical forms by layering together a variety of digital and analogue tools. This class will explore the sculptural possibilities of experimenting with the 3D printer, the computer numerically controlled (CNC) router, laser cutter, 3d scanners, photogrammetry and a variety of powerful but accessible design programs. We will consider how these tools might play a role in the development of each of the student's individual body of work. There will be workshops given by professionals and field trips to exciting maker spaces and other venues where the intersection of art and technology is explored. There will be an emphasis on sculptural fabrication, and how these new tools can enrich your practice.
