DESCRIPTIONFor this last portion of the course, we will shift the topic and narrative to examine themes relating to Jewish Identity, spiritual and political proximities and relevant materials through the creation of a sculpture. In our study, we will gather in person and over zoom to apply our time together towards this final project. The goal of this piece is to process the multilayered conflict, the grief, the confusion and what it means to be a Jewish artist in the midst of chaos. OUTCOMESVisual Communication:● Students are accomplished at representing their ideas visually. Visual Literacy● Students are adept at analyzing, interpreting, and explaining images. Understanding of Ethics:● Students recognize, formulate, question, and apply ethical principles and problems. Interdisciplinarity: ● Students demonstrate the ability to draw from multiple fields of study or to define new fields, expanding and bridging disciplines, and transgressing boundaries.ASSIGNMENTS1) Look at other artists both Jewish, Israeli, Muslim and Palestinian who are grappling with the same questions.2) Study relevant texts.3) Build a final project that reflects our study together.
