Description:
This course will explore the generative power of images as tools for architectural computation. Throwing out a purely two dimensional notion of image analysis and production, for a thickened one. We will begin with a critical history of images as technical devices, à la Vilém Flusser, and as a feedback mechanism, à la David Joselit, building a vocabulary of image making and an archive of strategies through the semester. The first part of the course will teach computational strategies for image production and analysis, and the second half will explore methods of fabricating images and material effects. Final documentation of the course will exhibit a catalog of strategies and a "How To" manual.
