Description:

Form and Surface: To create objects that are refined, infused with meaning and important, you will need to develop the skills to transform your materials from the stock forms you begin with into the nuanced and graceful shapes that set excellent metalsmithing apart. It is not force you will utilize, but knowledge and craft. Through a series of explorations of surface embellishment, mechanisms, stone setting, and metalsmithing techniques – both new and old – you will greatly advance your ability to transform your ideas into powerful objects that have conceptual rigor and intention of form. Design, ideation, problem-solving and research will all complement the practical skills you will learn as you delve deeper into the possibilities of creating great artwork that holds space in the world.
