Description:
This interdisciplinary course examines a range of groups that put collective collaboration at the heart of their practice. We will study both art and activist collectives, asking questions about how groups work together, make decisions, negotiate difference, handle conflict, and develop horizontal structures for artistic and political projects. Taking up historical and contemporary groups, we consider the utopian and dystopian possibilities dwelling within collective projects and how they address and fail to address pressing questions within social life.
