Description:
This hybrid studio course covers the basic technical and aesthetic issues of painting with an emphasis on the physical, compositional and conceptual components of pictorial invention and image-making. Assignments will be enhanced by presentations and critiques to support the development and articulation of an inventive individual approach to the painting discipline in preparation for advanced level work. Exposure to historical and contemporary art through artist talks, presentations, and museum and gallery visits. This hybrid class includes both in-person and virtual teaching methods. Virtual and in-person demos will be provided. Dynamic asynchronous material and homework will be structured through moodle. Critiques, sharing of work, artist visits, and student presentations will be introduced through a combination of virtual and in-person approaches that build momentum, and solidify methodologies of the Painting 2 course content.
