Description:
The online course will focus on contemporary painters and reception to their practices. We consider historical influences, creative exchanges among artists, the influence of patrons and critics, and marketplace politics. This online class includes a variety of virtual teaching methods that include both asynchronous and synchronous remote learning methods. Homework, presentations, and assignments are structured through moodle. Readings, lectures, student presentations will be introduced through a combination of virtual and in-person approaches that build community and help prepare painting majors for critical thinking and historical context needed for their senior capstone projects.
